Election of Councillors.

13. Subject to the provisions of this Ordinance

(1) For the purpose of the election of councillors of

Chinese race the Municipality shall be divided into wards,

each returning one councillor, and there shall be a separate

election for each ward.

(2) For the purpose of the election of councillors not

of Chinese race there shall be one election of councillors for

the whole Municipality.

(3) For the purposes of sub-section (1) of this section

that part of the Municipality comprising the Islands of Hong

Kong and Aplichau shall be divided into six wards and the

remainder of the Municipality shall be divided into four wards.

The boundaries of the said wards shall be as deliminated and

defined in the Second Schedule to this Ordinance.

14. (1) The council may, upon a resolution passed by a

majority of the whole number of the members of the Council,

make representations to the Governor in Council for

(a) the division of the Municipality into wards for

the purpose of the election of councillors not of

Chinese race;

(b) an alteration of the number and of the boundaries

of the wards;

(c) an alteration of the boundaries of the wards;

(a) an alteration of the name of any ward;

(e)

an alteration of the number of councillors of the

Municipality or of any ward or wards;

(f) the holding of a fresh election of councillors

following upon any such division or alteration.

(2) Any representation made under this section shall be

accompanied by a detailed statement prepared by the Council

of proposals intended to give effect to the representation.
